Push your own body weight the most times
Who bench presses their own body weight the most times? Compete in front of an audience and show how much you can do! The top six receive a medal – and the top three in each class also get nice trophies.
Age limit
The age limit for participation in the public competitions is 16 years.
Heating
There will be equipment exhibitors on site and you can ask permission to use their equipment if you want to warm up as early as hours before the races. Competitors who are at the stage prior to the start of the competition to receive instructions and conduct weigh-ins will be given a chance to feel out/warm up on the competition equipment (provided they do not disturb exhibitors etc.).
Who wins in case of equal number of reps?
If two – or more – competitors on the podium get the same number of approved reps on the same weight load, they are separated by body weight. Those with a lighter body weight are placed ahead of those with a heavier body weight. Competitors outside the podium with the same number of approved reps on the same weight load get the same placement, otherwise the one who lifted a heavier weight always beats the one who lifted a lighter one.
Controller
As of 2011, the rules for the World Body Press Championships have been adapted to be in line with the rules adopted for the popular Fitness Five competition. ATTENTION! If you are a licensed powerlifter, you may need to apply for a sanction from the Swedish Powerlifting Federation to enter this amateur bench press competition, otherwise you risk suspension.
Clothing
The only dress code for the different events is that the competitor wears a tank top. This is so that the judges can see the movements of the body and judge fairly.
Men on own body weight, women on 70% of body weight
– You have 100 seconds to do as many repetitions as possible.
– The moment starts with the hands gripping the bar, which is lifted out.
– The index fingers must be within 81 centimeters of each other.
– On the referee’s signal (when the arms are fully extended at the elbow joints and the bar is balanced), the bar is lowered to the chest.
– In the following press, the arms shall be fully extended at the elbow joints.
– The lifter must lie on his back so that his head, shoulders and at least 50% of the seat are on the bench, otherwise the repetition will fail.
– The bar should clearly touch the chest, without “bouncing”.
– Marked lockout (stop) in the top position.
– The position of the trunk and legs should be still and the movement should be performed at a controlled pace.
– Only magnesium is allowed as an excipient.
Equal results on the same weight load are distinguished using body weight (lighter body weight wins). In case of repeated incorrect repetitions, the athlete has the right to continue, but only strict repetitions will be accepted.
