Guldhjärtat (The Golden Heart)
Guldhjärtat (The Golden Heart) is the Fitness Festival’s award for the unspoken fitness heroes of Sweden and is awarded for meritorious efforts. The Golden Heart is awarded in six categories: PT of the Year, Group Exercise Instructor of the Year, Digital Inspirer of the Year, Club/Gym of the Year, Box of the Year and Role Model of the Year. In addition to these categories, the recipients of the Honorary Award of the Year and Catherine’s Memory are also selected.
The process for selecting the winners in the six categories is divided into three parts: nomination, people’s vote and a jury vote. During the nomination phase, anyone can nominate a person, a facility, a website or a group that they think fits a category motivation.
Out of all the nominees, a number are selected and presented as this year’s nominees. These are selected based on the most nominations received. The text of the nomination itself plays a major role aswell. We are not in a position to present all the hundreds of nominations that come in.
Once the nominees are announced, the public vote starts. Once voting is closed, the five finalists with the most votes in each category will be announced. Then it’s time for the jury to vote. The people’s vote and the jury’s vote are equally valid, but if two have the same score, the people’s vote decides. The person who receives the most votes overall wins this year’s prize.
Nomination
The first part of the Golden Heart opens up a form that is presented via social media. This is where you go to vote. You choose the category, fill in the details and your nomination text. You can vote in all categories but only one category at a time. The nomination is open for approximately 4 weeks. After the nomination has closed, a review of all nominations received is carried out. The nominees are selected based on who received the most nominations and the text of the nomination itself plays a major role.
Voting
The second part of the Golden Heart presents those who have progressed from the nomination phase and the voting begins. As before, you can vote in all categories for the nominees, but only one vote per person counts.
Finalists and jury
The top 5 vote-getters per category will go through to the final. Here, a jury takes over and chooses their favorites. The jury’s vote and the people’s vote carry equal weight, so if there is a tie between two candidates, the people’s vote is decisive.
