Sustainable Development Goals

The Sustainable Development Goals are the most ambitious sustainable development agenda ever adopted by the world’s countries and are designed to achieve four great things by 2030: ending extreme poverty. To reduce inequalities and injustices in the world. To promote peace and justice. Solving the climate crisis.

The Sustainable Development Goals can make this a reality. Fitnessfestivalen contributes to these objectives through a range of actions. We have chosen to focus on goals 3, 12 and 13, which we feel are closest to us and where we can have the most impact.

Global Goals Good Health and Well-being

Objective 3 - Good health and well-being

Good health is a fundamental prerequisite for people to reach their full potential and to contribute to the development of society. The larger purpose of the fair; To promote public health by advocating sustainable physical and mental health based on movement, diet, recovery and the balance between them. At Fitnessfestivalen we organize lots of competitions, most of them are beginner competitions with a low entry threshold. This provides clear goals and encourages exercise and movement.

Good health is a fundamental prerequisite for people to reach their full potential and to contribute to the development of society. People’s health is influenced by economic, ecological and social factors and Goal 3 includes all dimensions and people of all ages.

In recent decades, great strides have been made to improve human health globally, for example, child mortality has fallen by 50% since 1990. Investing in health through prevention and modern and effective care for all benefits the development of society as a whole and creates the conditions for people’s fundamental rights to well-being.

Goal 13 - Combat climate change

We are working with our exhibitors to encourage visitors to also invest in a better climate. We highlight the importance of this at the event. And make the pledging during the event a fun activity. The money from the pledge goes to charity, which also continues as a campaign throughout the year.

– Climate change is a real and undeniable threat to our entire civilization. Greenhouse gas emissions continue to rise and as a result we risk reaching an average global warming of more than two degrees, which would have serious consequences for ecosystems, ocean acidification, human security, food production, water availability, health and increased risk of natural disasters.
– The effects are already visible and will be disastrous unless we act now. Through education, innovation and compliance with our climate commitments, we can make the necessary changes to protect the planet. These changes also offer great opportunities to modernize our infrastructure that will create new jobs and promote prosperity worldwide.
– Global efforts to achieve Goal 13 and combat climate change are further embodied in the UNFCCC and the Paris Agreement. The UNFCCC is a global convention that sets out measures to stop climate change. The UNFCCC was signed at the UN Conference on Environment and Development in Rio in 1992. The UNFCCC is linked to the Paris Agreement, a global climate treaty that entered into force in 2016. The Paris Agreement sets out to limit the global temperature increase to below two degrees, with the aim of limiting it to 1.5 degrees. This will be achieved primarily by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Another part of the agreement is to provide support to those affected by the impacts of climate change and increase opportunities for adaptation.

Goal 13 Combat climate change
Sustainable Development Goals

Goal 12 - Sustainable consumption and production

Fitnessfestivalen works to raise public awareness of sustainable lifestyles through exhibitors, lectures and debate

Examples of measures:

-Digital material instead of printed material
-Collaborate with SL and SJ for sustainable travel
-Tasting plates etc of cardboard, wood, bamboo
-Water stations where visitors can fill their own bottle (together with MR)
-Serving in restaurant on sustainable disposable options (together with MR)
-Encourage our exhibitors to highlight what they do for the environment in line with our selected milestone,
sustainability and sustainable innovation.
-Lectures on sustainable lifestyle and diet.

– Our planet has provided us with an abundance of natural resources, but we humans have not used them responsibly and are now consuming far beyond what our planet can sustain. For example, did you know that 1/3 of the food produced is wasted? Achieving sustainable development requires us to reduce our ecological footprint by changing the way we produce and consume goods and resources.

– Sustainable consumption brings not only environmental benefits but also social and economic benefits such as increased competitiveness, growth in both local and global markets, increased employment, improved health and reduced poverty. Transitioning to sustainable consumption and production of goods is a necessity to reduce our negative impact on climate, environment and human health.
